Price · Founder Edition 2027

USD 4,800

For 12 days of expedition into the inner Aysén Fjord, where no road leads. For six people - not fifteen.

How much to budget in total

The expedition costs USD 4,800 per person. On top of that, allow for international and domestic flights, travel insurance, any nights in Santiago and personal gear.

Your total budget therefore depends mainly on flight prices and how long you stay before or after the expedition. Before the intro call, we'll send you an up-to-date rough budget for the whole trip from where you live.

  • Expedition: USD 4,800 per person
  • Flights to Santiago and on to Balmaceda, return: depending on current availability
  • Accommodation in Santiago: your choice
  • Insurance and personal gear: individual
What we're compared with

The same price a night. A completely different journey.

People most often compare us with hotel packages: a hotel stay plus a catamaran trip to the San Rafael glacier. Per night, we cost the same. For that price, though, you see something else.

vs

This rough comparison is based on publicly available prices for similar stays in high season. The scope of services, standard of accommodation and logistics can vary considerably.

You can buy the glacier anywhere. Not the rest.

1 day
11 days prepared for six specific people

The San Rafael glacier is the only day we share with hotel packages, and we go there on the same catamaran. Compare only the glacier and we are expensive. Compare twelve days and we cost the same as a hotel.

What a day in Patagonia costs elsewhere

Luxury expeditions and lodges · USD 600–900 a day. More comfort, more guests, mainstream destinations.

Organised group adventures · USD 300–500 a day. 12–20 people, fixed itinerary, the familiar highlights.

On your own · cheaper, but you can't reach the inner Aysén Fjord without a local captain.

Founder Edition 2027 · USD 400 a day, everything on site included. Six people, the inner fjord, the founder on board.

This rough comparison is based on publicly available prices for similar stays in high season. The scope of services, standard of accommodation and logistics can vary considerably.

How hard it is

An expedition, not an endurance test.

A remote place doesn't mean extreme physical effort. No climbing, no heavy pack, no nights in the freezing cold. You do need to be comfortable walking on uneven ground and in changeable weather.

5
Kilometres. The longest walk of the whole expedition.
The longest walk is about five kilometres, through the forest to the hot springs. My eight-year-old son can manage this route; the expedition itself is, of course, for adults aged 18 and over. The boat and the car cover most of the distances.
45
That's my age. I lead it for all 12 days.
60+
We plan for it. Most of the day you sit on deck or in the car.
♀ ♂
Women and men, couples and solo travellers. A cabin each.

Participants must be 18 or older. More on the For whom page.

We follow in the footsteps of Václav Nový from Mariánské Lázně, who landed in Chile in 1950 and found a home in the fjords of Aysén.

Four decisions

What sets the price.

The price flows directly from four principles. Each principle is a decision - and every decision has a cost.

01

Restraint

Decision

I don't bring more people than the place can hold. Six, not fifteen.

What it means for the price

A smaller group means a higher per-person cost. Boat, captain, permits, logistics - these cost roughly the same for six as they do for fifteen. That's why the expedition costs what it costs. It's also why the fjord still looks the way it does. A lower price would only work with a bigger group. We stay at six so the fjord stays the way it is.

02

Preparation

Decision

Before I let anyone in, I traveled the route myself, at my own expense.

What it means for the price

I did the scouting trips myself: finding the local captain, checking the routes, testing the logistics, getting to know fishermen and local people. I also bought safety equipment for the boat (Starlink for emergency contact, medical supplies). That way nothing in Chile gets figured out on the fly. Plan B means a different Plan A, not improvisation.

03

Responsibility

Decision

For you. For the place. For the people who live there and stay long after we leave.

What it means for the price

The larger part of the money goes directly into Chile - to the local captain, to fishermen, to the families who host us. Part goes into a community contribution given to the families you'll meet. Without the locals this expedition wouldn't exist, and they stay with us long after we've left.

04

Return

Decision

It's not about conquering the place. It's about coming back from it different.

What it means for the price

Each edition is prepared for six specific people who make it through a call, then a selection, and only then onto the boat. The price could only come down by running several groups at once, and that would take away exactly what you're going there for. This approach has a cost - and the floor on that cost is lower than the ceiling.

If I lowered the price, I would have to break one of those principles. That's why it's fixed.

Two prices

Why Founder Edition is USD 1,000 less.

1st edition

Founder Edition

USD 4,800

per person

= USD 400/day all in

January 2027 · six spots

Standard price

USD 5,800

per person

= USD 483/day

From 2nd edition onwards

The Founder Edition price is lower because this is the first edition. From 2028 the expedition costs USD 5,800.

Founder Edition 2027 exists because the first six are stepping into something no one else has verified. The reward is a lower price - and the fact that their names stay attached to this project permanently.

From the second edition this is no longer possible. That's OK - and you want it that way. It means the project is sustainable and keeps running.

Payment and cancellation

How it works, administratively.

Step 1

Application + call

Non-binding application, followed by a 15-minute call. Not everyone is accepted - this is a selection, not a reservation.

Step 2

USD 1,500 deposit

Once your participation is confirmed, we sign the agreement. You pay the deposit within 7 days of signing - and the spot is firmly yours.

Step 3

Balance 90 days before

The USD 3,300 balance is due no later than 90 days before departure, i.e. by 22 October 2026. After that: briefings and preparation.

Withdraw more than 90 days before departure - everything is refunded.

If you withdraw more than 90 days before departure, we refund everything you have paid within 14 days, without deductions and without needing a reason. After that, the cancellation fees in the agreement apply: 89–60 days before departure USD 1,700 (we refund USD 3,100) - commitments to local partners (boat, accommodation) that are already paid; 59–30 days 50% of the price; 29–14 days 75% of the price; 13 days or less 100% of the price. You can also transfer your place to a stand-by participant free of charge.

Filter

This price is for some - and not for others.

You're paying for this

For the layer of Patagonia you can't reach from the Carretera - physically or otherwise.

For a group of six people at most.

For money that stays in Chile and builds something there that outlasts you.

For a founder who is there the whole time - and vouches for you by name.

You're not paying for this

For hotel facilities. You're paying for a cabin, a boat, local people and time in a landscape where ordinary hotel facilities don't exist.

For a checklist of sights. The program has a pace that leaves time for the landscape.

For a one-size-fits-all package. Twelve days prepared for six specific people, not a universal program for hundreds of guests.

For a label. The price reflects the logistics of a remote region.

For a trek with a backpack, a tent and thirty kilometres a day. Others offer that, and do it well. We go where a backpack won't get you.

Frequently asked questions about the price

Three questions everyone asks.

Can the price be lowered if we come as two or three?

No. The price is fixed per person, and that's a deliberate decision - higher occupancy subsidizes lower, the group is always 3-6 people. There's no "volume discount."

Can I pay in CZK or EUR?

Yes. USD is the reference currency (because most costs are in USD and CLP in Chile), but payment is possible in CZK or EUR at the Czech National Bank (ČNB) rate on the invoice date. Details go out when we confirm your participation.

Why is the Founder Edition cheaper?

The Founder Edition price is lower because this is the first edition. From 2028 the expedition costs USD 5,800. The money you pay stays in Chile - local logistics, captain, community, the fund for a student cabin.

January is full. Apply for February 2027 or the 2028 season.

The application is non-binding. Within 72 hours I'll get back to you with a proposed time for a 15-minute introductory call. That's what decides, not the form.

January 2027 is full. We’re taking a waitlist. The second departure, in February 2027, opens depending on the number of applications, with exact dates to follow. Applications for the 2028 season are open.

Full refund of all payments if you withdraw more than 90 days before departure.
